Privacy Policy
We’re a small nonprofit, and we’ve tried to write this policy in plain language rather than dense legal text. It explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are
Seraph Interactive, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation registered in Wyoming, United States. For the purposes of privacy law, we’re the “data controller” for the personal information described below.
2. What we collect
Information you give us directly:
- Your name and email address, if you create an account with us or sign up to contribute
- Any information you include in messages you send us, applications, or community profiles
- If you become a contributor, information needed to complete a Contributor License Agreement, such as your legal name and contact details
Information collected automatically:
- Basic technical information when you visit our site, like your browser type, general location (country or region level), and pages visited. We use this only to understand how the site is used and to fix problems, not to build a detailed profile of you.
- If we use analytics tools, we’ll aim to use privacy respecting options and avoid invasive tracking wherever possible.
We do not collect payment information on this site. If that changes in the future, we’ll update this policy and handle any payment data through a properly secured third party processor, never storing card details ourselves.
3. Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Communicate with you about the project, your contributions, or your applications
- Keep our community spaces safe by investigating reports of harmful behavior
- Understand how people use our site so we can improve it
- Meet legal obligations, such as record keeping for our nonprofit status
4. Legal basis for processing (for users in the EU/EEA and UK)
If you’re located in the EU, EEA, or UK, we process your personal data based on one or more of the following: your consent, our legitimate interest in running a functioning community and organization, and, where relevant, the need to fulfill an agreement with you (such as a CLA).
5. Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information, ever. We may share limited information with:
- Service providers who help us run the site or our tools (for example, hosting providers or our identity and access system), under agreements that require them to protect your data
- Law enforcement or other authorities, only if legally required to do so
- A successor organization, if Seraph Interactive ever merges with or transfers its work to another nonprofit with similar goals, consistent with our dissolution provisions
6. How long we keep it
We keep account information for as long as your account is active, and contributor records for as long as reasonably necessary to maintain accurate credit, legal, and project history. If you ask us to delete your account, we’ll remove what we can, though some records (like signed agreements) may need to be retained for legal reasons.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to legal or contractual limits
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your information
- Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We’ll respond as promptly as we reasonably can.
8. Cookies
If our site uses cookies, they’re limited to what’s needed for the site to function properly and, where used, basic analytics. We don’t use cookies to track you across other websites or to serve targeted advertising.
9. Children’s privacy
Our site and community are not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If we learn that we’ve collected information from a child under 13, we’ll delete it.
10. International transfers
Because we’re a small, distributed, volunteer led project, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. We take reasonable steps to protect your information wherever it’s processed.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the project grows. If we make meaningful changes, we’ll post an update here with a new “last updated” date, and where appropriate, let you know directly.
12. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your information, reach out to us at contact@seraphinteractive.com.
